Loofahs are natural. Many people think they come from the sea -- like a sea sponge most likely because they are used as bath products. But they do not. Loofas are dried gourds. They are grown here in the U.S. as well as in places like South America. Some luffas are HUGE -- about the size of a baseball bat! Once they are dried they make great, fibrous sponges. The fibers are scratchy until you wet them. When wet they make a coarse sponge.
Loofas combined with glycerin soap are a great combination. As we get older having a sponge made of loofah is a real benefit. It soaks up the water and offers a good scrubbing.
I find they are quite long lasting too. If you know someone who has never tried loofah before it would make a great gift. But please, loofah can be scratchy when not fully wet -- so do not use it on your face or other sensitive areas!
Until we run out we are including our oatmeal olive oil soap as a discounted addition. The oatmeal soap is just wonderful. The fragrance is oatmeal honey almond. It's a sensational fragrance. We thought that the combination of the exfoliating loofah and the mild exfoliant of oatmeal would make a great combination. I use the oatmeal soap on my face almost every day. My customers tell me they do too!
